Texas Trip - January 2008

On January 3 we left Sioux Falls on our first ever singing trip to Texas and arrived home late on January 8.
Following is an account of our travels by lead singer, Joel Juillard:

Wow, what a weekend!! Our trip to Texas was fun and I believe a blessing to all. We started out for Texas about 4:00 PM on Thursday night and drove through the night stopping only for breakfast in Fort Worth and a 2 hour stop to visit the Alamo and walk the River Walk in San Antonio. We arrived in Alamo, Texas around 7:00 PM, got a bite to eat and found a motel for a good night's sleep. We did a sound check at Bibleville Conference Center around 10:30 and then had some Texas style barbecue before doing  2:00 and 7:00 PM concerts. What a wonderful reception they gave us and what wonderful time we had singing for the Lord.

After the last concert we headed for Austin, TX, arriving about 3:00 AM and got a few hours of sleep before singing at the 8:45 and 11:00 services at Christian Life Church pastured by Rex Johnson. Then it was off to Copperas Cove, Texas to sing at Victory Baptist Church pastured by Mickey Robinson. Victory Baptist is also where my brother, Kevin, and his family go to church and it was a real blessing to share our gospel message in song there.

On our way back home we visited the salt mine museum in Hutchinson, Kansas and had the bus break down in nearby Yoder. Prayers were answered and God was at work because the repair shop had just canceled a 6 hour job because parts had not come in. When we arrived they had a clear schedule to fix the bus and get us back on the road.

We met many wonderful people at Bibleville, Christian Life Church, Victory Baptist Church and in Yoder as we waited for the bus to be repaired. We saw God's hand throughout our trip and our prayer is that the people we met and sang for were as blessed as we were throughout our trip.

God Bless. Joel Juillard, MVQ

When in Texas, we tried to sample Texas barbecue as often as possible.
Here we are at Willie's Bar-B-Q, not the best choice before singing!

Another stop was at the Branding Iron. As usual the guys are goofing off a bit!

We visited the Alamo in San Antonio

Here Kirk is sporting his new raccoon cap.

The River Walk gave us all some much needed exercise
after sitting on the bus for 20 hours
.

In Hutchinson, Kansas we visited the underground salt mine museum.

Singing 650 feet underground was awesome!
Tom has never sung so low!

Authentic mining crew??!!??!

Scenes from the bus!

Now why do you suppose Tom looks so sour?

Typical!
